Faculty spotlight: Elizabeth Boileau
Assistant professor enjoys having the chance to teach outdoors and engage with the community.
Assistant Professor Elizabeth Boileau began working at UMD in August 2022. She chose to work here because of the opportunity to teach in the new Childhood Nature Studies major.
What do you like most about your job?
I love seeing student enthusiasm, I love the opportunity to teach outdoors and to work with community organizations and programs.
What is your research or teaching focus?
My research focuses on children's relationship with nature and the environment, or more broadly on how both can thrive in a changing world.
Do you have any advice for students?
The more you participate, communicate and give feedback to your professors and instructors, the more easily we can tailor the course to meet your needs and make it more meaningful and enjoyable for everyone!
What do you like to do in your free time?
Lately, playing with (mostly running after) my toddler! I also love reading, gardening, cooking and baking, and thrift shopping!
