In response to some of your comments, by saying "if there is more or if there is no after life" suggests to me at least that you are not entirely sure either way and therefore you can not actually claim that you do not believe. If it makes you more comfortable to say higher power instead of religion, you should say that instead of misleading yourself. As for god being dead, how could a spiritual power die? God created earthly life before any of us discovered it and God will be here after we have been forgotten.
