Something toward the end of your post rung a bell in my head, it does seem that these days people are going to church because they feel they have to. I am religous but don't actually make it to church very often, I know that a lot of other people that poke fun at me for this but at the same time i catch them saying how boring their church services are, and that they just sat in church because it was church. I don't know which is worse going to chruch on a regular basis to just go through the motions or going there not so often but because you want to. Is God dead? I don't think God is dead but his/her popularity is definitely going down.
