I think that if someone has been able to find happiness without religion, well good for him. Each person has to choose their own path in life, and if that path isn't on the path of the religious so what? As for "higher power" or "religion" don't you mean "higher power" or "God"? It seems to me that religion is merely extreme faith or belief or something. It doesn't necessarily mean God, especially considering your'e only giving Christian views. There are many other religions. Hindu, Muslim, and *gasp* dare I say it, Pagan religions exist as well. So if you're going to say something about saying "higher power" instead of something else, it should be instead of God, not religion. (Yes, I am a Pagan. Celtic in fact)...

Also, just because he's open minded about the afterlife doesn't mean that he has to believe. It just means that he can accept that he might be wrong. Someone could believe very strongly that the world is flat, but still be open minded if it proved to be round. That doesn't mean this person believes the world is round, only that he's not close-minded about his beliefs.

Personally, I couldn't imagine a life without the Goddess, but that doesn't mean I'm right, anymore than you, Jennifer, or you, michael, are. It just means that my path has taken me in a different direction than yours.
