Why did you choose UMD?

I am from Colorado and wanted an out-of-state college experience, but I also wanted smaller class sizes. I have family in the cities and thought that Duluth was the perfect location for me, with all the access to outdoor rec activities and community feel.

What do you like most about your programs?

I love how much the education department cares about my success. Not only have I been able to create a community with my fellow education students, but I also have a support system of professors, instructors, and others who all want me to succeed. I knew I wanted to be a teacher, but this program has made me realize how much I love it.

What has been your most meaningful experience at UMD so far?

I've been lucky enough to work at the Recreational Sports Outdoor Program since my freshman year. Through RSOP I have been able to learn leadership skills, build professional relationships, be a part of an awesome community, and discover the love I have for working with youth.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

These last 4 years have been the fastest 4 years of my life, make the most of it.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love to be active. The gym is where I go when I need to relieve stress. I also love playing hockey and being with friends in Duluth.
