14. Joseph Henry BEGIN
(1) was born on 12 May 1851 in Quebec, Canada.
He died on 29 May 1936. !INDIVIDUAL GENERAL RESEARCH NOTES:
Henry came to Faribault from Canada - At first he worked as a house painter
later he farmed raising grain and livestock. He died while living on a small
farm near Faribault.
!INDIVIDUAL GENERAL RESEARCH NOTES:
In a meeting in July of 1997 Elmo Begin Jr. reported that Henry and Esther
moved into Faribault from their country farm in 1919.
!FAMILY GENERAL RESEARCH NOTES:
Family moved to Faribault from Canada in 1878 after birth of third child.
They settled in Walcott Township, Rice County near Faribault. He was married
to Esther Byrd (BOYD) on 17 Mar 1873.
15. Esther Byrd
(BOYD)(1) was born on 19 May 1856
in Ontario Canada. She died on 12 May 1922. !INDIVIDUAL GENERAL RESEARCH NOTES:
In the "Rice County History"(page 300) @ the Rice County Historical
Society
there is
reference to a Johial W. Boyd. He was identified as being in a Private in
the
Minnesota 6th regiment and in 1863 participated in a campaign against the
Sioux in July of 1863. The regiment was disbanded in July of 1865.

Gertrude Lillian reported that Esther's mother was born in Ireland.

In July 1997 at meeting with Elmo Begin Jr. he reported that his grandmother's
name was Byrd not (Boyd)

Apr 1896 in Faribault MN. He died on 22 Jun 1970. He was buried in Buried in
Calvary Cemetary in Mn.

BEGIN(1) was born on 11 Dec 1878.

John was a farmer in North Dakota. The family moved to Oregon in 1918, and
To
Mount Angel in 1921.

!INDIVIDUAL GENERAL RESEARCH NOTES:
Moved to Ellen North Dakota according to Gertrude Lillian Durand, this was
confirmed by Elmo Begin on July 28,1997. Elmo went to the local cemetary and
confirmed the birth dates on the grave stones. Also he met with a Leonard
Hagen former undertaker(Age 85) who was the brother of Theresa Hagen who had
was married to Peter and Anna's son Henry.

BEGIN(1) was born in 1887 in Faribault

Never married had a daughter according to Gertrude Lillian Durand
x. Aurthur
BEGIN(1) was born in 1890 in Faribault
MN. He died on 1 Jun 1958. !FAMILY GENERAL RESEARCH NOTES:
According to Gertrude Lillian Durand they had 4 children. Lived on 640 acre
farm in British Colombia.
