I am Lutheran, so all my life it has been a religious holiday for me. Well, Iguess when I was younger it was more Santa Claus than Jesus, but now that I am older I was thinking about this very question over the break. I consider Christmas more as a family time and a gift-giving holiday. I think the Christians accomplished their goal when they decided to put Christmas during December to compete with the pagan celebration of Yule and the winter solstice. What religion dominates December????? Christian! My dad was complaining about how when he was younger there was no Hanukkah and Kwanzaa hooplah and how it was made to give other kids presents too. So, I said to him that that is what Christmas is about too. Some of my friends who are different religions don't celebrate Christmas but they give presents and enjoy the Christmas spirit. It is just sad that other religions don't get more recognittion for their holidays, or maybe they are happy that theirs isn't exploited.
Thanks, Lori
