2003 Baeumler-Kaplan Holocaust Memorial Lecture

The first central event features a child psychiatrist who was a hidden Jewish child in Holland during the Holocaust. Dr. Robert Krell will be the keynote speaker of the 2003 Baeumler-Kaplan Holocaust Memorial Lecture on Monday, April 7 at 4:00 p.m. in the Kirby Ballroom at UMD. The title of his presentation is "Personalizing the Theoretical: A Hidden Child's Perspective." Copies of his book, The Children of Buchenwald, will be available for sale. This presentation is best suited to people aged 16 and older.

2003 Baeumler-Kaplan Holocaust Commemoration Presentation

The second main event is a first for our committee; we will be offering the Minnesota premiere of an original musical composition addressing themes of the Holocaust. Duluth East Graduate, Allan Friedman, will conduct his original cantata, entitled "With Perfect Faith," on Sunday, April 13 at 3:00 p.m. in the Weber Music Hall at UMD. Dr. Stanley Wold's University Chamber

Singers and UMD Voice teacher and local soloist, Rachel Inselmann will perform. This story of "hometown boy made good" is worth sharing. This event is appropriate for a much wider audience than our keynote lecture. Anyone with an interest in the Holocaust and music will find it appealing. There will be a dress rehearsal open to High School Choral Students on Friday, April 11 at 3:00 p.m. in the Weber Music Hall.

Here's the calendar of other events associated with this year's commemoration (please note, all but one of the events is free of charge and open to the public):
