Uh, sorry about that. I enjoyed reading Joe's response about God and stuff. I believe that faith transcends everything. Reason, logic and any other faulty human devices play no role in my faith in God. If someone told me that there was an elevant hovering over my head, or if for that matter a whale swallowed a man (or any other fantastic- sensationalisitic story from the bible)- I would dig it.
All right, maybe I'm just being an idiot. To be perfectly honest I am hardly religious-just a lazy guilty catholic. However, I do think that the recent discussions about God and religion are underemphasizing the importance of faith. Not only as hope as Joe points out--for that point in the eager hands of a realist turns into the 'ol "opiate of the masses" deal--but as an end in itself. God's existence cannot be proven by any earthly means, yet to believe in him like an ignorant child giddy with excitement for the tooth fairy, seems to me like the ultimate sacrifice to ensure salvation.
Hey, I know it sounds pretty lame, and even I don't really buy it, but maybe the search for knowledge leads to uncertainty for it never brings about a satisfactory answer to this freakish desert, so hot and loyal and constant, we know as life. This is where faith comes into play, blind, idiotic, ignorant and blissful. Faith that there is a God, and depending on your religion or denomination, you will soon be kickin' it with him. Or her, i guess.
Peace.
