I agree that it would be quite difficult today to become a "Renaissance" person. The difference between that time and this time is partly to do with the wide array of subjects out there now, but I think it also has to do with time. In today's society we have such set schedules and it seems, no extra time. I also think that there are two sides to becoming a "Renaissance" person. First one must study all subjects by reading about them and secondly to fully understand something a person must experience it for themselves. So, if a "Renaissance" person was going to perfect his knowledge of art first he/she would have to read about art, the techniques and the history of art, and secondly he/she would have to master his skill at drawing and painting and scultping and (today) computer designing, etc. There's so much to read about even just one subject now-a-days that it does seem quite impossible to be able to read about all subjects, let alone master the skills of each subject. I think one can be the idea of a "Renaissance" person by being well read in many subjects. By knowing and having the desire to learn about many subjects a person can be the idea of a "Renaissance" person.
