You're absolutely right. Monks, priests, nuns, etc. are merely human, and no human can be perfect. Except...they're supposed to be better than us, aren't they? I mean, why else do people listen to them and follow what they have to say? What gives them the right to tell anyone else how to live their life? There has to be something about them that makes them better, and more of an autority than the rest of us. All I am trying to say is that I think it's silly that so many people ignored the corruption that went on (and still does go on) within any church. And says, "oh well, they're only human, what can you expect?" I expect that they shouldn't be telling me or anyone else what to do or how to live our lives if they themselves do not follow those rules. It makes me think of a doctor who will tell all their patients, "smoking will kill you, you should stop" and then runs out after work to buy his carton of cigarettes. I guess I just don't want anyone telling me what to do, and then they live by a different set of standards. Sort of the "do as I say, not as I do" thing. Sorry if I sounded harsh, I didn't mean to offend anyone.
