Putting it Together: What Should I Eat?

  1. Do not drink calories.
  2. Do not eat empty calories.
  3. Energy producing foods.
    1. Carbohydrates. Eat nutrient dense low Glycemic Index foods, particularly fruits, vegetables, and legumes.
    2. Fats. Consume primarily the good fats, Omega-3, Omega-6, Mono and Poly-unsaturated fats.
    3. Proteins. Eat complete proteins low in fats or accompanied by good fats.
  4. Fiber. Consume between 20 and 50 grams of fiber per day.
  5. Water. Stay hydrated; drink 8 to 10 glasses of water per day.
  6. Supplements. Consider antioxidant and phyto-nutrient supplementation.
