Message Tags

h:message: displays a single message for a particular component.

Many of the attributes for these tags represent CSS classes or styles for message presentation (see table, pp. 157-58).

An input tag and message tag are linked by:

• Giving the input tag an identifier using the id attribute, and

• Referring to the identifier in a corresponding message tag using the for attribute.

You can choose to show just a message summary, or detail, or both.
