Alright, Mary, I agree with what you are saying. I just jumped the gun and said a thought that wasn't complete. You have to agree with me that even though not everyone is a conformist, people are influenced in one way or another, be it mass media or what not. If I can correct my earlier statement and make the analogy of mass media to us is what the devil was to the monks. I say this in that no matter how much we try to avoid fads and the like, be it through TV or even our closest friends, we are affected someway, just as the monks were all affected by the so called 'devil'. So I'm just trying to say that in a weird, abstract way we are like the monks, just with more freedom. Do you kind of understand? I hope this makes sense.
