I agree that it is important to look at the historical content of the movie instead of picking out one particular scene which someone does not agree with. As a film which aims to educate as well as entertain, Name of the Rose provided a vivid image of what people, peasant women in general, had to endure in order to survive in that particular time period. I do not believe that the movie was out of line in showing the naked girl, but rather opened our eyes to the degration that women have endured throughout history. Furthermore, it is today's society which tells us that nakedness is taboo and turns us away from this kind of beauty. Overall, I believe the movie presented an honest as well as entertaining view of some aspects of medieval culture.
