It is refreshing to get a little taste of the other great civilization flurishing at this time. All through school the subject of the ottoman empire and the turks gets only lightly touched upon. This is a major empire, the ottomans were so far ahead of the europeans in mathamatics and such in the dark ages it is amazing. The rennaisance was a great thing and the art and litterature coming out of Italy and the other western contries was amazing but I really think that not enough credit in history is given to the turks and their empire. From Darius to Sulyman the rulers of the eastern world should get looked at more closely. Isn't our society being a little ethnocentric in esentially passing over the accomplishments of this empire and it's rulers?
