As far as I know, During the renaissance women were supposed to be somewhat plump. If you look at pictures of women from the Renaissance, they are not wearing corsets. Corsets may have come into being during the 1700's. If I am wrong, please correct me. I know they were in exsistence during the 1800's. I'm sure if people from the Renaissance traveled in time to the 20th century, they would probably think that 50% of our population is suffering from some disease that makes us so small. All skin and bones, nothing else besides our organs. What would they think of the media in todays society? All the models on T.V. are super thin and make the rest of us feel fat, when we are really average. The incidence of bulemia and anorexia is rising among teenage girls at an enormous rate. What posseses these girls to feel that they need to be as thin as Kate Moss, Naomi Cambell and other super models. Let's get sensible and start paying attention to the REAL people around us and forget about the high "standards" of society.
