: Well I would say that I agree with what everyone has to say about being thin and especially in todays society with all the pressure on being thin and watching what we look like in a bikini. I look at my roomates and how they are tring so hard to look perfect for their springbreak trip to mexico and find myself laughing. They are both perfect and one is practically anorexic. They use my Tae-bo videos everyday and go to the weightroom like it is some kind of race to see who can look better. I cant say that I am absolutly happy with how I look and I know I have looked better in my day, but that was also at a time when I was anorexic and was a sophomore in highschool.
I think that actresses like Kate Winslet should be admired by everyone. It is women like her that show other young impressionable girls that it is ok not to be a size 2 or see your ribcage in your swimsuit. As far as the magazines go I think that they are fun and bring imaginable joy to many people. The first thing you need to understand is that they are models and a very small percentage of the population actually looks that way. The magazines are really only doing their job to the best of their ability but we cant only blame them for the problems young girls have with their self image. Parents too should be to blame for not doing their job in letting their children know that everyone is beautiful in their own way. I think Dana said it best when she said " ... those Renaissance paintings with chubbier gals named Venus." People in that time period had a different idea of beauty and I guess it is all in the eye of the beholder.
