In high school we were studying world history and literature and we were told to read either Machiavelli's "The Prince" or "Utopia" by Sir Thomas More . I chose Utopia . This is a great book to read if you are looking for something opposite of "The Prince." I read this book a few years ago so I am trying to remember it. Utopia is a book about an island called Utopia where society is ran in an orderly fashion. It has it's rules and everything is good as long as the rules are followed. It is understood that Utopia is a great place to live, so why would you jepordize your chance to live there. Of course, it is argued whether Utopia would be a good place to live. In Utopia, everything is straightforward and there is no worry about the underhanded and deceiving ways of "The Prince.
I wouldn't want to live in either place and I believe that the best form of government has qualities from both books.
Thanks,
