I am currently a Catholic girl, and do mostly think of the birth of Christ as the theme of the Chrstmas holiday. But lately it just seems that Christmas is going off the course of the holiday that celebrates Christ's birth onto the holiday that spends a ton of money on people and Christ is really only thought of on Christmas Day or Eve or whenever your church ceremony is. Now don't get me wrong, I love Christmas and it is my favorite holiday, but lately it just seems pointless as far as the present thing goes. In my family, we spend more money than we have just to spoil eachother. Well, ok, not all the money we have, but I know as a college gal here, I don't have a huge Christmas fund to spend, but my brother and sister who are full time employed shower me with gifts for Christmas, which there is nothing wrong with it, except for the fact that I in return feel I should shower them with gifts. So I end up spending all of my money, which what should've been done was set a price limit. And the same thing with friends, it's like ok, how much are you going to spend on me, so I know how much to spend on you, I think that then we should just say, ok how about if I just buy myself sonething for twenty dollars and pretend it was from you and you do the same thing from me. I don't know does this sound familiar to anyone or is it just me?
My point is that I think the gift thing is great, but don't any of you ever feel like you HAVE to spend as much as the other person did on you? I think that we should just give from the heart and not the wallet so much.
Anyways, that is my point of view on how Christmas is the most expensive holiday now days and is getting more and more off the track of it being Christ's birthday, not everyone's birthday.
