I agree with Nikki when she said that it was totally offensive to have the only woman in the movie be portrayed in the way that the only thing she was good for was sex. The scene really bothered me. It was as though the only way for her to be able to eat was to prostitute herself to the monks. But what I think really bothered me is that I can see how this was her only option. In her time if she didn't have a father or husband to provide for her she was left with very few options on how to survive. It was wrong of the monks to take advantage of her in her situation but it shows that even monks, who are supposed to be holy and good do wrong things. I think Christian Slater's character was young and curious about what the woman was offering to him. In this istance she wasn't preforming the act to acquire food, I think she was looking for someone to show Her that she could be loved and she was more than just a poor begger to be taken advantage of when the monks were horny.
