She was willing to do whatever it takes to get food from the Abby, but Christian Slater did not offer her anything for her services. So then how could you chalk the scene up to her need for food when it was obviously not the purpose of it. I think it was just added in to keep the modern day viewers interested with a little sex and a love story subplot.
