The Midwest Undergraduate Data Analytics Competition (MUDAC) competition is held every year in the Spring at Winona State University, Winona, WS. in 2017, 38 teams competed. This competition gives students an opportunity to apply their data analysis skills to a problem of interest to a local outside organization. Students working in teams have approximately 24 hours to carry out an analysis, provide a written summary of their findings, and prepare a brief oral presentation of their results.
The MinneAnalytics (or MinneMUDAC) competition is held in the Fall and is hosted at Optum. The competition invite teams of graduates and undergraduates to explore real-world data while enhancing and showcasing their skills. Past events have been tremendously successful due to the unique collaboration between students, their academic advisors, and analytics professionals from a variety of businesses.
