Lighting Design I
Stage Lighting
Proficiency
Proficiency Dates
Each student will be required to sign up for a ten minute time
slot.
At the specified time, the student will come to the Marshall
Center main stage with a crescent wrench. The professor will indicate a specific
light on a light plot as provided. The student will then find the appropriate
fixture and proceed to hang and circuit the fixture indicated. Using the instrument
schedule, the student will then patch the circuit into the appropriate dimmer
and bring up the light fixture on the lighting control console.
Students will be evaluated on the following:
- Arriving on time.
- Bringing a crescent wrench.
- Reading the light plot accurately.
- Reading an architect's scale accurately.
- Selecting the proper instrument indicated on the light plot.
- Hanging the instrument properly.
- Hanging the lighting instrument quickly and efficiently.
- Prepping the lighting instrument for focusing properly.
- Circuiting the instrument properly.
- Reading the Instrument Schedule accurately.
- Patching the circuit properly.
- Bringing the instrument up on the lighting console successfully.
