Rose to popularity during the late 70’s and early 80’s- has become widely popular again in the 00’s, but has become a largely Christian movement within the metalcore genre.
Description:
Hardcore music was “new punk” which focused on harder bass, faster tempos, and more volume intensity. Most songs were about government, capitalism, war, and the punk subculture.
Roots:
Hardcore’s roots are in punk music. Amongst the DIY (do-it-yourself) scene, there was a hardcore movement that spurned from traditional punk and promoted the XXX (straight-edge) lifestyle.
