Scheduling Threads

• Scheduler activates new thread if
  • a thread has completed its time slice
  • a thread has blocked itself
  • a thread with higher priority has become runnable
    
• Scheduler determines new thread to run
  • looks only at runnable threads
  • picks one with max priority
