DULUTH — The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Swenson Civil Engineering Building received an American Institute of Architects (AIA) Design Excellence Award on October 24, 2014. The “Divine Detail Award” was presented to Ross Barney Architects at AIA Chicago’s event, Designight 2014, for the design of the Pickle Barrel Scuppers on the Swenson Civil Engineering Building.
Designight 2014 gathered over 900 architects, designers, contractors, and clients for a celebration honoring the city’s architecture and design community. In its 59th year, the awards merited honorees in four categories including distinguished building, interior architecture, divine detail, and unbuilt design. From a field of 253 entries, the 33 winning firms include Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Perkins+Will, and Ross Barney Architects among others.
