DULUTH, MN — Arlen R. Severson, Ph.D., faculty member at the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth campus was inducted into the Academic Health Center Academy for Excellence in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning on October 29, 2014. This distinction is awarded to those who attain the highest level of recognition by their peers and is a lifelong membership. Members of this academy have demonstrated exceptional scholarly contributions to advance learning in their schools and across academic programs at the University of Minnesota.
Severson received this distinction because of his commitment to education and lifelong learning is evident through innovative approaches that adapt to the ever-changing requirements of medical student education.
Brooks Jackson, dean of the Medical School at the University of Minnesota, said in a congratulatory letter, “Your contributions and commitment to education are an incredible asset to this institution. I commend you for standing out among your peers as one of the AHC’s outstanding educators!”
Severson is a charter faculty member of the Medical School Duluth campus and has won teacher of the year a total of 16 times.
