Duluth, MN – The UMD Police Department is conducting law enforcement training today through Wednesday, June 9, 10, and 11, at two on-campus sites: Junction Apartments, 1115 and 1135 Junction Ave., and Ianni Hall, 506 Niagara Ct. The training will run from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Members of various regional law enforcement agencies will be taking part.
The training is specifically geared toward campus and workplace safety. Scott Drewlo, director of UMD’s police department says it will be dynamic in nature and may produce sporadic noise and sights that the general public could find alarming. “The UMD Police Department assures you that these noises and sights are simulated, are being closely managed by our training staff, and pose no danger.”
The training is not open to the public. Media wishing to cover the training should contact Lori Melton to make arrangements in advance: lmelton@d.umn.edu or (218) 726-8830.
