DULUTH, MN – Dr. Praveen Aggarwal has accepted the position of associate dean at the Labovitz School of Business and Economics after an almost two-year period as interim associate dean. He assumes his new position in June 2014.
Aggarwal joined the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1998 as assistant professor of Marketing from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY, where he earned his Ph.D. in Marketing.
Before accepting the interim associate dean position in 2012, Aggarwal served as the chair of Marketing and Management Studies departments for seven years. He has championed numerous initiatives in LSBE including the new majors in Marketing Analytics and Marketing & Graphic Design, the fully online Certificate in Business Administration program, LSBE Course Clusters, School-wide adoption of the Passport to Professional Success Program, and the LSBE Curriculum Internationalization Initiative.
Additionally, he has authored more than a hundred scholarly and trade publications and has earned numerous teaching, service, and research awards. Among these distinctions are the 2011 LSBE Faculty Service Excellence Award for “exemplary academic, professional, and community service” and the 2007 Horace T. Morse-University of Minnesota Alumni Association Award for outstanding contributions to undergraduate education, whereby he was also inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Teachers.
“We are delighted that Dr. Aggarwal will serve our School as associate dean,” said LSBE Dean Amy B. Hietapelto. “His wealth of significant experience and expertise are to be lauded, and we are most fortunate for his continued service.”
LSBE is accredited by the AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). Less than 5% of business schools worldwide have earned this prestigious distinction. In Northeastern Minnesota, LSBE is the only school to have attained AACSB accreditation. Its website is lsbe.d.umn.edu.
