UMD is inviting the community to experience the bounty of its farm next week in
an early celebration of Food Day, a nationwide celebration and a movement for healthy,
affordable, and sustainable food.
Events on Tuesday through Thursday, September 17–19, are focused on experiencing UMD's
farm and enjoying its expertly prepared veggies.
UMD has a 10-acre organic farm that's producing fruits, vegetables, and possibly soon,
harnessing wind energy. It's mission is to provide experiential learning to students and community
members around food, farming, and gardening, as well as deliver thousands of pounds of
produce to the UMD Dining Services who use this healthy, minimally processed food as a step in
their own process of 'going local'.
