Final Round!
Vote for Bob Nielson 2012 Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year
The time has come for the final round of voting for UMD's head football coach, Bob Nielson, in the 2012 Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year campaign. Nielson was named one of five finalists in Division II with voting beginning today.
VOTE EVERY DAY through December 20, 2012. Bulldog fans can tweet their vote daily for Coach Nielson via coachoftheyear.com. In addition to fan voting, respected members of the College Football Hall of Fame and National Media will be voting for the coaches they feel best embody Coach of the Year criteria. Scores are tallied based on 20% fan votes, 55% Hall of Fame votes, and 25% media votes.
The Coach of the Year criteria includes sportsmanship, integrity, responsibility, and excellence on and off the field. Campus and community connections are all part of the selection process.
A win for Nielson means a $50,000 win for local charities and a $20,000 win for the UMD Alumni Association.
Since his previous win in 2010, seven UMD students have benefited from scholarships enhanced by the Alumni Association prize money.
