Under the leadership of Chancellor Lendley C. "Lynn" Black, the UMD campus is developing a strategic plan during the 2010-11 academic year, and community members are invited to participate in this planning process.
An open-to-the-public meeting is scheduled in the UMD fourth floor Library Rotunda at 7 pm on Tuesday, March 22, 2011. Chancellor Black will share the emerging plan with the Duluth community. The public is invited to learn about the current status of the planning process and to share ideas about how the current drafts of the plan align with community needs.
Residents who are unable to participate in the meeting can view the progress of the strategic plan and share their ideas at the following website: http://www.d.umn.edu/chancellor/planning/
BACKGROUND
Beginning in November, over 2000 people have been involved in the process. Working drafts of a revised mission statement and core campus values were developed.
The campus is now developing a vision statement for a preferred future in 2020 and five to seven campus goals that can be achieved within the next five years to move toward that vision.
The final step of the planning process involves identifying the action steps necessary to accomplish the campus goals and integrating all components into a cohesive strategic plan for the campus.
