UMD will hold its annual "Nightwalk for Campus Safety and Sustainability" on November 8; from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Interested neighbors and community members are welcome to join the walk. All participants will meet inside the Kirby Student Center Bus Hub at 6 p.m.
The Walk will cover areas both inside and outside of the UMD campus. The purpose of the "Nightwalk" is to inspect the campus for possible safety and sustainability issues and to create suggestions for future improvements. New this year--UMD will also be looking into areas related to sustainability: including energy waste, heat losses, and light pollution.
All participants are encouraged to wear clothing appropriate for walking outside, and to bring a flashlight. "Nightwalk" will be led by UMD Vice Chancellor Greg Fox and UMD Student Association President Victor de Meireles
Those who take part in the event will be asked to complete recommendation forms for suggested improvements at the end of the Walk.
Recommendations can also be sent to UMD Finance and Operations, 500 Darland Administration Bldg., Duluth, MN 55812 by November 15.
