Two UMD mock trial teams competed in the Second Annual Twin Cities Invitational on October 23-25. Fifteen teams from Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota competed in the invitational. One UMD team received honorable mention for the Spirit of AMTA Award. This means their mock trial competitors reported their good sportsmanship to the tournament sponsor.

UMD will compete in upcoming mock trial tournaments: Macalester College on November 6-8, St. Olaf College on November 21, and College of St. Thomas Law School on January 16-17.
Each mock trial team function as attorneys and witnesses and litigate cases that have been prepared by the American Mock Trial Association and are used for competitions throughout the nation. Each case is a simulation of actual trial litigation that requires extensive amounts of preparation. Mock Trial prepares young people for public speaking in any competitive setting and specifically as future attorneys.
