UMD Graduate Student Named a Fulbright Scholar

Tom Beery.

Tom Beery, a student in the UMD Doctor of Education, Teaching and Learning Program, has been selected as a Fulbright Scholar for 2009-2010.

Mr. Beery's proposed study will examine young people's relation to nature, and analyze how environmental connectedness correlates to lifestyle measures and access to undeveloped urban green space. The study will be completed in Sweden in conjunction with the Swedish initiative, "Outdoor Recreation in Change."

Tom is an instructor in the UMD Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, in the Recreation--Outdoor Education program.
