UMD will conduct its annual "Nightwalk" for Campus Safety, Monday, November 17, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The purpose of the "Nightwalk" is for members of the UMD community (faculty, staff and students) to walk together looking for any possible safety or hazardous situations on the campus. The group will cover all outside (and several inside) areas of the campus. John King, Interim Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operations, and Jason Wittrock, President of the UMD Student Association will lead the group.
Members of the UMD neighborhood and community residents are invited to join the walk.
All "Nightwalk" Safety Walkers are asked to meet inside at the Kirby Bus Hub at 6 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to wear clothing appropriate for walking outside and to bring a flashlight.
Campus safety recommendation forms will be made available that evening and will be collected following the walk. Each participant will be asked to complete a recommendation form listing any areas of possible safety improvement.
Recommendations may also be sent to UMD Department of Finance and Operations (500 Darland Administration Building) by Wednesday, November 26, 2008. The comments will be used by UMD Finance and Operations to make plans for campus improvements.
