UMD Large Lakes Observatory (LLO) will hold a presentation by Peter Thomson, an award winning reporter and writer, who will discuss his new book "Sacred Sea: A Journey to Lake Baikal", October 15, at 7 p.m., at the UMD Solon Campus Center, Room 120. A book signing will follow the presentation.
The event is free and the public is cordially invited.
Peter Thomson is an independent writer and radio producer living in Boston. He was the founding producer and editor of National Public Radio's groundbreaking environmental news program "Living on Earth" in 1991. In a decade with the program Thomson also served as senior editor, senior correspondent and special projects editor.
Thomson's work as an editor, reporter and program producer has been honored with numerous awards. His award winning reports and documentaries on environmental subjects range from oil, natives and wildlife on Alaska's North Slope to threats facing America's drinking water supply to the environmental legacy of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Peter Thomson also serves on the board of the Society of Environmental Journalists.
