Presentation Set for January 26
The snow that fell during the past few weeks will eventually melt and flow across UMD roofs and parking lots moving through Oregon and Tischer Creeks to Lake Superior. As this storm water flows down stream it will pick up any sediment, litter and other pollutants in its path.
UMD Department of Facilities Management is developing new practices of operation for the campus, providing new opportunities for research and education as part of the new UMD Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan. The most visible project in 2005 will be the construction of a "Rain Garden" along College Street, to filter and slow parking lot runoff in an attractive and innovative way.
