UMD Chancellor Kathryn A. Martin announced today that Vice Chancellor for University Relations William D. Wade has been named Interim Athletics Director effective June 1.
As Vice Chancellor for University Relations, Wade oversees the offices of UMD Development, Public Relations, Publications, Alumni, Photography, Intercollegiate Athletics, and KUMD Radio Station. Wade has been at UMD since 1997.
The athletics director position was left open when Robert Corran took a similar position at the University of Vermont.
A nation-wide search has been launched to fill the position, and a permanent
director is expected to be in place by early October.
