Professor Jesswein has taught in the UMD Department of Economics for 33 years, and has served as Department Head for 23 years. He was awarded the UMD School of Business and Economics 2001 Service Award, and is a past recipient of the UMD Student Association Teaching Award. He has been involved in numerous research studies dealing with the regional economy.
Professor Jesswein's record of community service includes: the St. Mary's Medical Center Board of Directors (Vice-Chair); the United Way of Greater Duluth, Inc. Board of Directors; ARC-Minnesota Board of Directors (President); American Rose Society (Consulting Rosarian and Horticulture Judge); and Lake Superior Rose Society (President). He recently received a Certificate of Appreciation presented by the City of Duluth for his dedication to community service in the Leif Erikson Rose Garden.
