A Petrozavodsk fundraiser, which includes a silent auction and concert, will be held on March 25 in the UMD Kirby Student Center Ballroom from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The concert will feature Alexander Chernyshev, UMD Department of Music Teaching Specialist, and his wife Olga on the piano and violin. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $2 and donations of all amounts will be accepted at the door.
Sponsors of the trip, the Petrozavodsk Student Exchange Committee (PSEC) is an organization of first and second year UMD medical students. The group will be making their 2nd trip to Petrozavodsk.
The trip last year gave students a chance to see the substantial need for medical supplies. Students toured hospitals and met with doctors. This year UMD students will hold a press conference with the Mayor of Petrozavodsk. Items urgently needed are: EKG machines, medical technology, newer antibiotics, antiseptic agents, and disposable supplies.
