Ms. Tula has survived a civil war, incarcerations as a political prisoner in El Salvador's notorious prisons, and the experience of being a refugee in the U.S. She earned international recognition for her work as an advocate for human rights with the Committee of Mothers of Political Prisoners.
The presentation is sponsored by the UMD Hispanic/Latino/Chicana Learning Resource Center, UMD Equity Education, and UMD Women's Resource and Action Center.
A Rice and Beans Fundraiser for UMD Amnesty International students will take place before the presentation at 5:00 p.m. in the UMD Kirby Student Center, room 311, Tuesday, November 16. Donations of $5.00 will be requested.
