A review article published in a British medical journal evaluated 107 controlled trials performed between 1986 and 1990. Eighty-one of these studies showed that homeopathic medicines had greater effect than placebo in the treatment of headache, respiratory infections, diseases of the digestive tract, ankle sprain, post operative infection and other health related disorders. Studies have been published in both the Lancet and the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology noting the effectiveness of homeopathy on rheumatoid arthritis. In a double blind study of homeopathic medicines on influenza the homeopathic medicine showed resolution of symptoms in twice as many patients within 48 hours as did placebo according to a report in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology. Other studies have shown improvement in the symptoms of hay fever, neurologic pain following tooth extraction, Parkinson's disease, bronchitis, sinusitis, migraines, influenza, and motion sickness.
