  Physician AssistantCertifiation/Licensing

Each program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAHEEP). Each graduate must pass a National Certification exam designed and prepared by the National Board of Medical Examiners, (the same organization that prepares the physician exams). Each graduate must also accumulate 100 hours of continuing education every 2 years (same as physicians) and take a recertification exam every 6 years.

Physician assistants are registered by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. Requirements include: 1) graduation from a PA program accredited by CAAHEP, 2) board certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants, and 3) a supervisory agreement with a physician describing duties and supervisory relationship.
