There are two types of elementary school visits that make up the Duluth campus Brain Awareness program:  visits to Greater Minnesota, and visits to Duluth area schools.

Visits to schools in Greater Minnesota

Many medical students from the Duluth campus participate in Brain Awareness to fulfill the community service requirement of their rural preceptorship course.  As part of this course, medical students from the Duluth campus spend 20 days working with, and learning from, family medicine physicians who practice in rural Minnesota or Wisconsin.

In 2015, medical students will contact and arrange presentations in schools throughout Greater Minnesota primarily during one of three time periods:

Visits to Duluth area schools

In 2015, Brain Awareness visits will take place during the week of March 23 - 27.  We are willing to schedule some visits during the preceding or following week to accommodate schools who cannot fit a visit into that week.

We have switched to an online system for registering presentations.  Invitations to register are mailed out in December, and contain instructions for logging in to the registration site.

You must submit your registration form by March 6, 2015.  Priority will be given to those who respond first and to those schools that did not participate last year.  We will contact you when we begin scheduling the school visits at the beginning of March.

If you have questions regarding Brain Awareness or presentation scheduling, please call Luanne Petcoff at (218) 726-8892.
