I teach in the Department of Writing Studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth.  I hold degrees in journalism (Bachelor of Journalism, University of Missouri) and liberal studies (Master of Liberal Studies, University of Minnesota Duluth).    

I am very old, and teaching college writing and advanced writing (2004-present) is my second career.  For a quarter century before that, I worked in communications in the private sector, primarily as an account executive in the ad agency business.  My greatest interest, though, has remained steadfast through both careers: what, that we can communicate in writing, will motivate human behavior?
