Writing Center

Steps are underway to open a campus-wide writing center fall semester 2013.  Open to undergraduate students, graduate students, staff, faculty, and administrators, the writing center’s mission is to help all those who use its services develop strategies that lead to better writing.  In addition to offering one-on-one consultation with qualified graduate students and experienced writing instructors, the center plans to provide writing-related training and workshops for various sectors of the campus community.

Jill Jenson, Associate Professor of Writing Studies, will retain her role as Faculty Liaison for Writing and Learning to establish the writing center. As part of the newly designed Learning Commons and under the auspices of Academic Affairs, the writing center joins three other learning-centered services in this space: the Multimedia Hub (ITSS), the Reference Desk (UMD Library), and the Tutoring Center (SSP).
