At UMD, every credit you take after 13 credits is free of charge. Banded tuition helps keep your educational costs down and encourages students to graduate in four years. Students who take fewer than 13 credits will be charged on a per-credit basis.

UMD is a member of the Midwest Student Exchange Program. Residents of these states qualify for tuition that is slightly higher than in-state tuition:

  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Kansas
  • Michigan
  • Missouri
  • Nebraska
  • Ohio

The University has reciprocity agreements with Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Manitoba. If you are a resident of any of these states or province, you may qualify for reciprocity tuition at the University, which is comparable to resident tuition.
