Your Orientation Experience
What to Expect
Orientation is an all-day, one-day program required for all new University of Minnesota Duluth students. Check-in begins at 7:45am, and the program officially begins at 8:30am with a welcome to you and your guests. The program will conclude by 4:30pm, so plan your travel accordingly.
During Orientation, you will:
- Learn about important campus resources available to you
- Meet other incoming students and current UMD students
- Receive personalized academic advising and register for courses
- Get your U Card - your official student ID card
Preparing for Your Orientation Session
- UMD Internet ID and password
- 7 digit student ID number
- Photo ID (for your U Card)
- Notebook and pen/pencil
- Laptop or tablet computer
UMD is committed to providing an inclusive and equitable campus environment. Some accommodations may take a few weeks to arrange.
You are also welcome to visit Disability Resources (258 Kirby Student Center) for a brief informational meeting after Orientation. However, if you would like to register with Disability Resources to arrange formal accommodations, you will need to schedule an initial appointment in advance.
Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available. If you are in need of additional dietary accommodation, please contact our office at (218)726-6393 two weeks prior to your Orientation date.
